All fans of good old pizzas watch out! Would you like to prepare the pizza differently and experiment with its shape? This is a really good idea, because there are extremely interesting pizza variations that make watching TV even more convenient and the party, where finger food is welcome, even more original. How about small pizza bites, pizza rolls or a creative pizza on a stick? Sounds very promising and interesting, doesn’t it? Then read on and find the perfect recipes to suit your taste. We have put together some delicacies with which you can enjoy the pizza in a different way.
Pizza with a difference – a recipe for pizza on a stick
- 10 g dry yeast
- 120 ml warm water (approx. 40 degrees)
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 160 g of flour
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 380 g marinara sauce
- 225 g mozzarella, grated
- Topping of your choice (e.g. salami, ham, peppers, peppers, olives, mushrooms, tomatoes, etc.)
- Sticks (e.g. ice cream sticks)
You can get a different kind of pizza without question with this creative pizza idea on a stick. Not only are they delicious, but they’re also much easier to eat when you’re sitting comfortably on the sofa. And you don’t get your fingers dirty while eating. To prepare the pizzas on a stick, you first need the batter. To do this, mix the water with the yeast and a little sugar. Set aside for about 10 minutes to allow the yeast to react and begin to foam.
After these 10 minutes, put the yeast in a large bowl along with the flour, salt and olive oil. Mix these ingredients together with a fork. If they are mixed up to a certain extent, place the dough on a worktop, which you have sprinkled with flour beforehand, and continue kneading it by hand. Gradually add more flour until the dough is no longer sticky and form a ball.
Take a piece of dough the size of a golf ball and shape it into a ball, which you then press flat. Stick a stalk into the dough and flatten it even more. It should be as round as possible, typical of a pizza. Repeat until you have used up all of the batter. Then preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
In the meantime, spread a little marinara on each pizza on a stick and then grated mozzarella. Then you can add the remaining ingredients that you have chosen and either prepare all pizzas the same or different ones. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes and you’ve prepared a pizza differently. Serve the pizza lollipops with the rest of the marinara as a dip.
Simple pizza on a stick with ready-made batter
For around 16 lollipop pizzas:
- 450 g ready-made pizza dough
- 225 g Fontina, grated
- 16 stems
- 16 salami slices
- any pizza sauce
You can prepare this pizza recipe even faster and easier. The result is a different kind of pizza again. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Divide the dough into 16 pieces and shape them into balls. Insert a stem into each ball and press it flat. Spread them out on a baking sheet lined with baking paper, sprinkle cheese on top and put a slice of salami on each mini pizza and, finally, more cheese. Of course, you can also choose and add any other topping you want. Bake the small pizzas for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown.
Pizza appetizers in an ice cube tray
- Pizza dough (homemade or bought ready-made)
- any topping such as salami or ham and vegetables, cut very small
- Sesame seeds
- Emmentaler or other cheese, grated
- Pizza sauce (e.g. marinara)
- Egg yolks for brushing
Roll out the dough thinly and place the ice cube tray on it. Press it down lightly. Now you can cut out the dough along the marking. You will need two of these pieces of dough. Place the first piece on the ice cube mold and press in the spots for the ice cubes. You will receive wells, which you now fill with a little sauce and the chosen side dishes (about 1/2 teaspoon per hole, depending on the size of the ice cube). Brush the edge with egg yolk and place the second piece of dough over it. Roll over the ice cube tray with a rolling pin. This will seal the edges.
Use a knife to cut along these edges to create individual bites. Repeat these steps as often as you want, depending on how much dough you have available and how many bites you want to prepare. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Spread the pizza bites on a parchment-lined baking sheet and coat them with egg yolks.
Then sprinkle with oregano or sesame seeds, cheese or any other spices you like. You can also put together a mix of different variants. Bake the canapes for 25 to 30 minutes. If you would like to serve the pizza differently at a party, this is exactly the right option! Give the appetizers enough time to cool because the heat builds up inside, which makes them particularly hot.
Pizza rolls with salami and mushrooms
For 8 roles:
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 35 g mushrooms, cut very small
- 25 g onions, finely chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian spice mix
- 180 g marinara sauce
- 55 g mozzarella, grated
- 30 g salami, finely chopped
- 8 pieces of dough for spring rolls (if you like, you can also use puff pastry or pizza dough)
- 1 large egg, roughly beaten
- optional: basil, chopped
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Heat the oil in a pan on the stove and add the mushrooms, onions, garlic and spice mixture. Fry for about 5 to 6 minutes until the vegetables soften. Add about two thirds of the marinara sauce and cook over medium heat for another 3 to 4 minutes until the mixture has thickened. Set the pan aside and let the pizza mixture cool for about 10 minutes. Then put it in a bowl and stir in the cheese and salami.
Take a piece of dough and place it on the countertop in front of you. One of the corners should be facing you. Spread some of the pizza sauce you just cooked on the dough. Then fold the lower corner over the filling and then the two side corners to the middle. Coat these interfaces with egg and now roll the roll further upwards. Repeat with the rest of the batter.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the pizza rolls on it with the sides facing down. Brush them with a little oil and bake the delicacies for about 15 minutes until golden brown. Then let them cool for a few minutes and then sprinkle them with the basil. You can use the rest of the marinara sauce as a dip.
Bake pizza rolls
You can use ready-made pizza dough or prepare your own dough as follows:
- 320 ml warm water (38 to 43 degrees)
- 2 1/4 tsp dry yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar (13 g)
- 2 tbsp olive oil (30 ml)
- 3/3 teaspoon salt
- 440 g flour
- any topping and pizza sauce
For the dough: Mix the water with the yeast and sugar in a bowl with the hand mixer and dough hook and let the mixture rest for 5 minutes. Then add the olive oil, flour and salt and knead a dough out of them with the hand mixer on a low setting (about 2 minutes). Sprinkle the work surface with a little flour, place the dough on it and knead with your hands for another 3 to 4 minutes. Test the dough with a finger by pressing it in. If the dough slowly starts to recede at this point, it is ready. If not, keep kneading.
Rub the same bowl with oil and turn and turn the large ball of dough in it until it is covered with oil on all sides. Now cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for 60 to 90 minutes until it doubles in volume (on cold days this can also be done in a preheated oven at 66 degrees. Turn it off after preheating, Put the bowl in and leave the oven door slightly ajar, after about 30 minutes close it again and you have made a pizza dough base.
But if you want to design the pizza differently, these original pizza rolls are also suitable. To get this, simply roll out the dough in a rectangular shape. Use your fingers to add dents to the dough. Then coat it with olive oil. Then spread out any pizza sauce and cover the dough according to your taste. Now roll up the dough with topping and let the roll rest for 25 minutes. This will prevent the topping from falling apart when the snails are cut. In the meantime, preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
Cut the roll into slices to make snails. You can dip the underside in cornmeal if you like, so that the pizzas become even more crispy. Spread the pizza rolls on a baking sheet lined with baking paper (with the cornmeal side down). Do not bake more than 12 pieces at a time so that there is enough room for them to rise. The pizzas should be ready after 15 to 20 minutes. Sprinkle with fresh basil to taste and serve with additional sauce for dipping.
Pizza in the cup
- 1 tbsp flour
- 2 tbsp self-rising flour
- 1 pinch of salt
- 2 teaspoons of olive oil
- 2 Table spoons of milk
- 2 tbsp tomato sauce
- 1 handful of mozzarella, grated
- 2 slices of salami, finely chopped
That sounds strange at first, but you’ll be amazed how delicious this variant is. In the cup you can prepare a dish that is very similar in taste to real pizza and even has dough, but can be prepared in just a few minutes. So if you don’t have that much time, you can also enjoy lunch or dinner like this. All you have to do is mix the two types of flour, salt, oil and milk in the cup. Use your finger to smooth the resulting dough. Spread the tomato sauce over it with a spoon, sprinkle the mozzarella over the sauce and spread the salami. Put the cup pizza in the microwave for a minute and the pizza is ready to eat. You can change or expand the topping as you wish.
