One of the most popular stylish and timeless color combinations is without a doubt black and white. With this classic color duo, it’s actually the mix that does it. In the interior, the strong contrast looks particularly elegant and modern. In the following we would like to present you a contemporary loft apartment in Lviv, Ukraine, the interior of which is characterized by the elegance and charm of the black and white color combination. The interior was created in 2017 by the designers at Studio Architecture & Design O.M. Shumelda and is irrefutable proof of how stylish and modern you can furnish in black and white.
Set up black and white – the timeless color combination creates an elegant and modern interior design
The interior design of the apartment in Lviv, Lviv, Ukraine was designed according to the needs of a young couple. Here, contemporary and elegant design has been paired with maximum usable space, creating the basis for comfortable living. Since the apartment only extends to 56 m2, an appropriate solution should be found accordingly. The interior designers responded to this challenge by installing a mezzanine floor. For the optical enlargement of this area, the color white was used and translucent glass partition walls were installed.
Active living takes place on the first floor. The hallway, living room, kitchen and even a bathroom are housed in a single open space. To avoid installing restricting walls, the designers placed the bathroom behind a glass partition. The bathroom is equipped with a double washbasin, a toilet and a walk-in shower.
Furnish and visually enlarge the open living area in black and white
Due to the double ceiling height of the living room and the white painted brick walls, the small room looks much larger. By converting the window niche into a comfortable bench, an additional seat was created. The two large windows overlooking the opera house deserve special attention.
In order to allow maximum immersion in this wonderful view, the lounge zone on the wide window sill was provided with soft cushions, which of course also remain true to the black and white color scheme. A newly constructed opening in the brick wall provides access to the dining area, where the second large window is also located. A special dining table was made for the window niche here, which makes optimal use of the available space.
Artfully painted accent wall in black
The kitchen is adjacent to the dining room. A wall painted in black creates a great contrast to the white brick walls and kitchen cabinets. The black accent wall complements the black furniture and glass frame on the mezzanine and ensures a uniform and harmonious overall look.
Black steel stairs with white steps lead to the mezzanine of the apartment. The bedroom is on the second floor. At the foot of the bed there is an opening in the wall that leads to the small reading room, which also functions as a walk-in closet. Thanks to the “half-story” arrangement of these zones, the area of this apartment could be increased considerably.
The mezzanine floor offers additional space and privacy
This division made the rooms more comfortable and cozy. The bedroom was equipped with a black framed glass wall through which you can see the living room below.
It was important for the customers to preserve the historical value of the apartment located in the center of the old town, so that the interior designers restored and kept the existing walls made of old Austrian brick.
