This cool and modern maisonette gallery apartment from Vilnius in Lithuania was completed in 2018. The project is simply called Apartment B9, and the idea for it comes from the architects EMA Butrimaviciute. The 100 square meter apartment is located in a modern residential building that borders the old town of Vilnius and the cozy park.

Apartment B9 is mainly divided into two functional zones. For this reason, the designers have turned the ground floor into a quiet area for working and sleeping. Three private rooms and a bathroom are also connected to a spacious hall in which the stairs are a core element.

The hanging steel structures help to make the stairs visually lighter, while glass elements create playful reflections between artificial and natural lighting. The upper floor is dedicated to the living room and the kitchen with dining area.

The planning of the open space of the maisonette gallery apartment enables the natural light of the eastern and western facades to be optimally used. Because of this, the only closed area here is a second bathroom. This also has a visual connection with stairs through the smart glass.

Inspired by art galleries, the designers have created a home that is flooded with light. White surfaces coat almost every floor, wall and ceiling. Contemporary furniture and fixtures are installed and used to add some pops of color to the otherwise white finish.

According to the designers, the laconic architecture of the residential building was the inspiration for the redesign of the interior of the maisonette gallery apartment. The texture was also the key word for the selection of the materials. Warm and light colors as well as halftones highlight every object in the interior and make a statement.

Accordingly, the only built-in elements in the apartment are the kitchen and fireplace. The industrial facades made of brushed steel contrast with the expressive pieces of marble. The rest of the room remains neat and tidy – the perfect setting to show off the art that has been collected by residents over the years.

As mentioned above, the first floor of the maisonette gallery apartment is mainly used as a relaxation area and for sleeping. There are three rooms, two of which appear to be bedrooms, while the third is a cozy corner especially suitable for studying or reading. Other rooms are dedicated to storage or a bathroom on the ground floor.
