The house is located in South London – formerly a large city mansion, it has recently been converted into four terraced houses. Each house has 5 floors and offers over 370 square meters of living space. That might sound nice, but in fact the narrow terrain was a great challenge. The architects have mastered the task of creating a bright living area with a lot of creativity. To save space, they built in a spiral staircase. The spiral staircase made of smoked oak consists of several prefabricated parts that were assembled on site.

the House renovation began with the living area – there the narrow room was divided into three – a cozy dining room merges into the kitchen and then the living room. Abundantly glazed walls allow sufficient sunlight into the interior and seamlessly connect the interior with the exterior.

The spiral staircase leads to the second floor, where there is a library with a cozy reading corner. The floor-to-ceiling wall shelving system houses the homeowner’s book collection and also serves as a room divider. Large, timber-framed Victorian-style glass doors lead to the balcony where glass railings have been installed. This enables a view of the garden. Comfortable upholstered furniture offers the opportunity to relax and chat with other family members after a long day at work. These House renovation is a successful example of how an old building can be modernized with creativity.
