Smoothie recipes with a layered look: Colorful drinks for the summer
Rainbow Food immediately puts you in a good mood and makes you happy. Maybe because the rainbow is always associated with beautiful things like sun and spring. So after the rainbow cake, the trend continues towards the smoothie stacks. Layer by layer, many different fruit and vegetable purees are stacked in a glass. If you don’t have the inspiration which ingredients to combine, we have put together a few delicious smoothie recipes for you. Just give this cool food trend a try!
The secret to the perfect smoothie stack lies in the consistency of the different layers. All layers should be nice and thick so that they do not mix with each other when pouring. A trick: you can use frozen fruit or put the finished smoothie mixes in the freezer for a short time to achieve the desired consistency. Alternatively, chia seeds can also be used as a binding agent.
A cup of milk and / or yogurt forms the perfect basis for the smoothie. The mixture of 100 grams of yogurt, a frozen banana and 1/4 cup of water is also very suitable. The frozen banana should be thawed 5 minutes before pureeing. If you want, you can use almond, oat, shredded or coconut milk instead of cow’s milk.
The different ingredients for each layer are put separately in the mixer and pureed until creamy. Make sure that the less liquid there is, the thicker the consistency will be. Some ingredients like Greek yogurt, bananas, and avocado increase the chance that the smoothie will be frothy and creamy.
With fruit and vegetables, nature offers a colorful palette of harmonious colors that always provide surprises. Fresh or frozen foods with an intense color are perfect as a coloring agent. You can simply select and combine the smoothie ingredients according to your taste. When choosing the types of fruit and vegetables, however, you should make sure that they somehow harmonize with each other.
The two and three color smoothies look interesting and don’t take up that much time. For a rainbow smoothie, on the other hand, you need a total of 6 different colors or layers: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. So it cannot be prepared as a quick breakfast every morning, but it would be a real eye-catcher at a birthday party with the motto rainbow. Well worth the effort for a special occasion.
Incidentally, the color blue simply cannot be achieved with natural dyes. A blueberry, yogurt, and banana smoothie is purple in spite of everything. So you can either skip blue in your rainbow smoothie or use a few drops of food coloring.
Below are some inspirations for the different layers. Always place the jars in the freezer while preparing the next layer.

Multi-colored smoothie recipes for the summer
Ingredients:
For the green layer at the very bottom: 250 g kiwi (frozen), 175 ml coconut milk (cold)
The red middle layer: 250 g frozen raspberries, 200 ml coconut milk (cold)
For the orange layer on top: 250 g peaches (cut into pieces, frozen), 200 ml coconut milk (cold)
preparation
Kiwis and peaches should be peeled, cut, put in freezer bags. It is best to place it in the freezer the day before.
First the green layer is prepared. Put the frozen kiwi with the coconut milk in the blender and puree. Pour the mixture into two glasses and put them in the freezer. So the individual layers do not mix when pouring.
Now the red layer. Put the ingredients in the blender again and puree. Spread the second layer on top of the first with a spoon. Put the jars back in the freezer while the yellow layer is being prepared.
Puree the peaches with the coconut milk and pour into the glasses until they are full. Put the glasses back in the freezer for about 10 minutes. Then garnish nicely and serve.
Fast alternative to rainbow smoothies: the ombré smoothie
Basically, the stronger the color contrast between the individual layers, the more beautiful the result looks. However, this requires several different ingredients and it takes more time to prepare each layer. An ombré smoothie, on the other hand, is prepared super quickly and looks much cooler than a plain-colored smoothie.
Purple ombre smoothie recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup of frozen blueberries or berry mix
1 cup of natural yogurt
1 tbsp honey
Puree the blueberries using a blender. Sweeten with 1 teaspoon honey, add 100 ml water and mix again.
Pour one layer into the glass. Then add 2 tablespoons of yogurt to the rest of the smoothie mixture. Mix again.
With 2 tablespoons of natural yoghurt each, the smoothie layers turn from dark purple to light purple.
Toppings
The smoothie can also be pimped with tasty toppings. You can use anything your heart desires for this – fresh berries, nuts, coconut chips, etc. If you want to give the smoothie a little more power, then chia seeds, goji berries, bee pollen and oat flakes are perfect. Garnish with mint leaves and serve. Bon Appetit!
