Highlights of Chanel’s Spring / Summer 2015 Pret-A-Porter show
“Make fashion, not war” was the motto of Karl Lagerfeld’s collection for Chanel for spring / summer 2015, presented on a typical Parisian street that cannot be found on the city map. On the penultimate day of Paris Fashion Week, models such as Giselé Bündchen, Toni Garrn and Cara Delevingne demonstrated for freedom and gender equality. Experience the highlights of the 360-degree defile in pictures.
Chanel trends for spring / summer 2015
The catwalk in the Grand Palais was built as a typical Parisian street – with asphalt over which the models walked and with restored, middle-class house facades in the background. Rain puddles made for more authenticity. Already at the beginning of the show, Lagerfeld sent his models out, equipped with signs and megaphones, who shouted loud protest slogans in a group and amazed the guests. Karl Lagerfeld used the fashion collection as a medium for the messages that the designer wanted to convey to the audience. The signs read: “Be different”, “Make Fashion not War”, “Be your own Stylist”, “Divorce pour Tous”, “History is her story”, “Ladies First” and “Free Freedom”. In France in particular, where feminism and protest culture play a special role, these very important issues were dealt with in a targeted manner.
Chanel’s rebellious spring / summer 2015 fashion show
Karl Lagerfeld consistently relies on comfortable, wearable “everyday fashion”, albeit, as always, very sophisticated and feminine in the sense of a Coco Chanel. The new Pret-a-Porter collection for spring-summer 2015, dominated by bright colors, also featured white, high-necked blouses and classically cut suits. The “rebellious” line is also characterized by watercolor painted floral patterns, straight silhouettes, accessories such as canvas bags, decorated with written slogans, as well as immediately recognizable Chanel-typical design elements. The garments, which can be combined in a variety of ways, offer space for creative experiments.
