Travertine tiles people have known them since Roman times and, like marble, the material is a timeless and stylish floor covering that impresses with its natural-looking and high-quality look. In the interior, the natural stone is usually polished or ground and, when used outdoors, laid in an unpolished form. In a dream home on the Pacific coast, the entire living space of around 297 square meters is covered by highly polished travertine.
Travertine tiles for inside and outside – a dream home on the Pacific coast
There are three main materials used in the house – travertine, limestone and glass. The entire flooring is made of travertine tiles and in some rooms, such as the bathroom and hallway, they can also be found on the walls. The decorative limestone comes from Jerusalem and adorns the facade and interiors. Frameless, large-area window fronts let sufficient daylight into every area and offer a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean and the Golden Bridge. The materials used contrast with the modern architecture and the character of the building.
Travertine floor in a luxury San Francisco home
The bedrooms are on the upper floor and the living area with a modern, open kitchen is on the lower floor. A travertine floor seamlessly connects the interior and exterior and ends in a dreamlike infinity pool with clear water. Heat-tolerant plants such as old olive trees and large natural agaves grow in the garden. The north side of the house is completely locked and there is a garage with a carport next to the front door.
