Fabric shoulder bag sewing for young turtles motifs

Today we are going to show you simple instructions for a sturdy shoulder bag with a bottom. This is probably the most popular bag shape that can be used on a wide variety of models. As soon as you have mastered the principle, you can change the size or proportions to suit your mood and even try out other buckle and fastening options. You can give your bag an individual touch with decorative elements and beautiful fabrics.

This project is ideal for beginners at sewing. The long strap allows it to be carried comfortably over the shoulder or loosely diagonally across the upper body. The beautiful patterned fabrics in green and turquoise look fresh and summery. Cute turtle motifs are printed on the front and on the strap. The bag can be closed with a magnetic button. Due to the colorful fabrics, the design does not need any additional jewelry. The shoulder bag still has one large and two small inner pockets, but inexperienced seamstresses can only sew one inner pocket or none at all.

The main details of the shoulder bag

1) Sew inside pockets. Cut a large and a small rectangle of fabric to the dimensions given. Lay both of them with the nice side down. Fold the fabric 0.5 cm on the long sides and another 1 cm. Iron and sew along the edge. On the small inner pocket, fold the lower edge of the pocket by 1 cm and iron.

7) Bag bottom. To do this, fold the bottom of the bag so that it makes a corner, as in the picture. Place the side and bottom seam exactly on top of each other. The seam allowances are unfolded. Measure about an inch from the corner at the side seam (or depending on how wide you want the bag) and sew a triangle across.

Below is shown how the adjustable strap can be pulled through the buckle. We will briefly summarize the steps again:

1. Sew a metal loop on each side of the bag.

2. Thread the shoulder strap on the right side of the bag (front facing up) from top to bottom through the first carabiner. Then fold the open edge inwards 1 cm and then place it on the inside of the belt. Pin there with a needle and topstitch.

3. Slide the clamp buckle onto the other end of the carrier strap.

4. Slide the second snap hook onto the strap.

5. Push the end of the belt through the clamping buckle.

6. Fix the end of the strap and sew it on.
