The new Mercedes AMG GT 4-door: a sports sedan with character
The new Mercedes AMG GT was officially presented at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6, 2018. It is a four-door coupé that embodies the perfect family car and at the same time makes the hearts of real sports car fans beat faster. The sales release of the new Mercedes AMG GT 4-door Coupè is scheduled for June 2018, while the model will actually be available at dealerships in September 2018. The new Mercedes AMG GT: a four-door sports coupé
According to a study of the AMG GT concept, the new Mercedes AMG GT 4-door Coupè came out as an all-purpose weapon. It combines the properties of an everyday vehicle for the whole family with those of an excellent sports car. It promises more space and at the same time more power under the hood with a four-liter twin-turbo V8 electric motor with 639 hp in the S line. That should be the perfect family car with athletic qualities that would be available as a production model.

The new family-oriented sports car appears on the market under the simple name Mercedes-AMG 4-Door GT and is offered in three configurations. Here we summarize the technical data very briefly:
- Mercedes AMG 4-door GT 63 S 4-Matic +: 4.0 liter biturbo V8, 3,982 cm3, 639 hp, top speed 310 km / h, acceleration 0-100 3.2 s
- Mercedes AMG 4-door GT 63 4-Matic +: 4.0 liter biturbo V8, 3,982 cm3, 585 hp, top speed 315 km / h, acceleration 0-100 3.4 s
- Mercedes AMG 4-door GT 53 S 4-Matic +: 3.0 liter turbo R6, 2,999 cm3, 435 hp, top speed 285 km / h, acceleration 0-100 4.5 s
The three variants have all-wheel drive, which controls from rear to all-wheel drive and vice versa using the intelligent 4-Matic + system. Depending on the model, the AMG Speedshift automatic transmission offers up to six programs to choose from: Comfort, Smoothness, Sport, Sport +, Race and Individual for manual transmission mode. With the S model, there is also a “drift mode”, which is also optional for the other versions at an additional cost. The driver can deactivate the ESP system and have more fun in the corners. Thanks to the AMG Ride Control + air suspension and the improved traction and dynamics, the driver can accelerate out of corners earlier and more forcefully. The four-door coupe has a limited-slip differential on the rear axle that is electronically controlled and ensures optimum grip. The vehicle remains stable even when braking at high speed. All three versions are equipped with braking systems with 6-piston fixed calipers at the front and 1-piston floating calipers at the rear, which vary in color depending on the model variant.
The new Mercedes AMG GT 4-door: equipment and optics
Visually, the new Mercedes AMG GT 4-door is strongly reminiscent of the Mercedes CLS. The two are actually based on the E-Class platform, but AMG has consistently modified it. At the same time, the AMG variant delights with several details that have been specially developed for the model and ensure a sporty appearance. In addition, there are several highlights in terms of equipment such as the Night package with glossy black decorative elements, the Chrome package with high-gloss chrome elements and other additional functional elements.
The V8 versions are equipped with two 12.3-inch displays for controlling the functions in the interior. In the R6 version, they are available at an additional cost, otherwise you get the classic round instruments such as the Mercedes CLS. For sporty drivers, highlights such as a G-Force display as well as power and torque values are intended. A completely new development is the intuitive performance steering wheel with integrated touch control sensors or optionally with an integrated display. Many functions can be operated without taking your hands off the steering wheel.
The comfortable sports seats and headrests can be individually adjusted and the different positions can be saved. For the rear seats you can choose between a foldable rear bench or single seats. The trunk volume varies up to 435 liters and 40 liters are available under the trunk floor. An additional function enables the trunk to be opened with just a movement of the foot.
Communication is very important in the new Mercedes AMG GT 4-door. With Intelligent Drive functions, the driver can benefit from partially automated driving, for example in traffic jams or when parking, make phone calls, set the heating, etc. In addition, round times are saved that can be improved later, the accelerator and brake pedals, as well as the acoustics in the Coupé can be set with one command. Ambient light, ventilation and massage seats also ensure a high level of comfort for the passengers.
