First, measure exactly how big you want the top to be and make a sketch. First, cut the plywood to the size you want as the base, then add the sides that will hold the concrete. The sink you plan to use should be purchased first and come with templates for the holes.

Whichever faucet you buy should come with a template. Almost every faucet has either one or three entrances for installation. You can first try out the PVC piping with a template to determine the size you want. Make sure there is enough room for the pipe, but not too much, to peek out from under the faucet cover.

After you’ve fully set up the plan and have the holes where you need them, use waterproof silicone to seal off any cracks. Make sure you flip around the edges of the cutouts as well. You can use a big old table from your garage to work on. Next, mix the concrete according to the directions on the package. If you don’t have access to such a product or want to save some money, use regular concrete and you can sift out the larger aggregates. Otherwise, simply follow the directions on the sachet for the proper amounts to mix.

Pour and grind concrete

Now it’s time to pour the concrete into the mold. You now need to add the wire mesh as well. Adding the extra starch will help hold the vanity down in case it ever breaks. Also make sure that the supports do not protrude anywhere from the concrete when filling. After you’ve filled it up, take a putty knife and smooth the top in a zigzag pattern by running the tool over it and using it to smooth the surface. Next, take a hammer and tap the sides and underneath for a while to remove air bubbles and set the concrete down. Then take a trowel and use it to make everything as smooth as possible.

The concrete takes about a week to dry. The surface becomes a little lighter. Once dry, take a concrete grinder and sand it nice and smooth with it. Now it’s time to remove the plywood holding mold. Unscrew the sides and try to pull them off slowly, being careful not to chip the plywood. You can then use the grinding machine to work on the edges.

Take the time to make sure the concrete slab for the vanity is really clean. Then seal these with a concrete sealer and use the polyacrylic to finish the process with that. After sealing you will probably have to use about 3 layers of acrylic.

Then position the plate on the vanity and place the sink on top. Attach the sink to the plate with putty. You can install the faucet from below using silicone around the edge of the top of the faucet.
