The Israeli architecture office Axelrod Architects in cooperation with Pistou Kedem architects presents the modern white flat roof house Afeka, with a concept based on minimalism. The idea for a “light-in-place” house served as inspiration for the design. One goal of the project was to let as more light as possible enter the living space, and the architects achieved this with the most modern architectural elements.

White flat walls with a gap in the middle let the daylight flood the living space abundantly. When viewed from different angles, the facade looks different – from static to playfully offset to very dynamic. If you look at that Flat roof house from the street, it looks like a massive elongated building volume with discrete openings. The side view gives the impression that the building is floating above the ground.

The living room was designed on the basis of a cube with staggered sides. The large glazing creates a flowing transition from inside and outside. Both the exterior and the interior are kept simple and pure white. the Architects used translucent materials and additional lighting effects.

Inside, the effect is that the sky is part of the architecture. The use of a lot of glass enhances the feeling of airiness and space and creates a clear, modern ambience. The gleaming white corridor connects the living areas with one another.
