Why Handbags Are So Beautiful

If you’ve been reading my posts, you know that I absolutely love handbags. I’ve gone through my favorite luxury bags, I’ve shared my first handbag with you guys, and I’ve written about an important issue in the handbag industry. Now, I’m going to tell you why I love handbags so much and why they are so beautiful.

Last week I posted an article titled “Everything You Need to Know About Handbags“. In that article I wrote about the best handbags, special terms used to describe certain parts of the bags, different types of bags, and the major three handbag brands. It’s those special terms that matter though and I’m going to go through them again.

One very important term to know is “silhouette”. That word is used here the same way it is used everywhere else. The silhouette of a bag is basically the shape of it. Other, more specific terms include “gussets”, “hardware”, and “feet”. These words all describe specific parts of the bag and they are important to know when describing a bag.

These words are important because they help describe the craftsmanship that goes into making a bag and it’s that craftsmanship that makes handbags so beautiful. When a handbag has been designed and crafted with effort, it shows. Take the Hermès Birking for example. A Birkin is a beautifully handmade bag. Every thread is hand-stitched and every piece of hardware is placed as perfectly as possible.

More great examples of amazing craftsmanship are Chanel bags. The way the Chanel stitches their quilted leather handbags, be it the double flap, the 2.55, or the boy bag, is amazing. Chanel always takes care to make sure that the stitching on these bags line up perfectly when the flap on one of these bags is closed. That’s something you won’t see from a brand like H&M or Forever 21.

Not to mention, many of these luxury brands are iconic. They have made a mark in the fashion industry and some still continue to do so. Everyone who loves handbags knows what a Birkin or a Kelly is and can easily point out bags like the Louis Vuitton Alma or the Chanel Boy Bag and these bags all have their historically signature looks. These iconic bags also come from iconic brands that have been in the handbag business for decades. These brands know what they’re doing.

This is why I love designer handbags so much and don’t talk much about handbags from affordable brands. It’s very easy to tell when a handbag has been crafted with effort and when it was just made to sell. Even within affordable brands. You can tell when a handbag from an affordable brand was designed to look the way it does instead of just copying other bags.

It’s the craftsmanship, the iconic history, and the design that makes these handbags so beautiful. It’s easy to think that luxury handbags are only expensive because of the brand they were made buy but there is so much that goes into making these bags. Most of these bags are worth their expensive prices.

So, what do you think? Does the craftsmanship of a handbag make it worth it’s price? Let me know in the comments below. Also, don’t forget to subscribe to get new posts sent directly to your inbox and follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat.
