Anna Wintour was interviewed for London Fashion Week and Vogue uploaded a video (below) on its YouTube channel in which she talked about the top shows, trends, and the empowerment of women. The trend was seen on runways at New York Fashion Week and seems to be on runways here as well.
Anna Wintour began the interview saying “in terms of trends here in London we’ve seen a lot of velvet, a lot of rich colors. We’ve seen embroidery, lace, tons of wonderful coats.” She also, like in her interview for New York Fashion Week, talked about the shoes. She, however, mostly talked about the way the clothes represent women’s power and the empowerment of women.
She also seemed to like Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection a lot where Wintour says Burberry creative director Christopher Bailey did a good job of representing diversity, youth, street style, and culture and that she can’t wait to see what the brand does next.
Wintour continued talking about how many designers at London Fashion Week are getting better and how their clothes are getting better as well.
Wintour concluded the interview saying that she’s excited that most brands are making clothes that look different because many times when you go to Fashion Week you see a lot of clothes that look the same.
She didn’t, however, talk about how she sat next to Queen Elizabeth II at the Richard Quinn Fall/Winter 18/19 show. The Queen made a surprise appearance and it was the first time she had attended a Fashion Show. That was what everyone was talking about and was all over social media.
Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if the empowerment of women was talked about and shown on runways at Milan Fashion Week, especially at the Versace Fall/Winter 18/19 show. Versace always shows a collection that’s about the empowerment of women and usually has a song playing that’s about that as well.
The trend will also probably continue at Paris Fashion Week as well. Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Dior will probably show this in their collections.
