If you’re new, the Best of Haute Écriture is an article series that I post on the last Saturday of every month in which I list my top 3 favorite posts, the best news stories, videos, and more. How Coach Can Become a Luxury Brand Again

Coach has been in fashion news for the past few months. The brand recently announced its plans to lower inventory in overly promotional department stores and lower markdown allowances. Coach is essentially trying to move the brand away from desk counts and outlets and back into luxury. The brand, however, needs to do more to become a luxury brand again. Things like start manufacturing in the United States and increasing prices.

Hedi Slimane Wins €10 Million Lawsuit Against Kering

Last month, Hedi Slimane was reported to be suing Kering for a second time for €10 million ($11.1 million). Now it seems as if Slimane has won the lawsuit. A Paris commercial court said Slimane should now have access to financial information regarding Saint Laurent. Slimane had not been given access by GG France Holding Company, which is both part of Kering and the main shareholder of Saint Laurent. Slimane filed this latest lawsuit which allegedly gave him a monolith ownership stake in Saint Laurent.

Paolo Riva Resigns as CEO of Diane von Furstenberg

Diane von Furstenberg announced that Paolo Riva has resigned as CEO of the brand just a year and a half after he was hired. Some brands have adopted the “see now, buy now” business model and other have been showing in season collections. It seems, however, that showing collections in right kinds of shows was difficult for Riva. Diane von Furstenberg has made no announcement on who will replace Riva.
