According to an article on Fashionista, Queen Elizabeth II made a surprise appearance at the Richard Quinn Fall/Winter 18/19 show at London Fashion Week, sitting next to Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour. She also wore the perfect handbag.
Just last week I was talking about how I love the look of a good old lady bag and that bag is perfect. The Queen was pictured (below) getting out of her car wearing a Launer bag, which is her favorite brand and is exactly what an old lady bag. is The bag is black, made of patent leather, and has long handles. It even has a clasp closure which is even more classic and elegant.
The Queen has been wearing Launer handbags for years. She’s been wearing them since 1968 when founder Sam Launer gifted her a bag. She owns over 200 bags from the brand and usually orders about 6 of them a year, however, in 2015 only two were ordered. All of her handbags are custom as well with longer handles to make handshaking easier. Her favorite bags are the Royale and Traviata.
She also reuses all of her handbags for many events and usually replaces the hardware rather than buy a new one.
This bag doesn’t seem to currently be available from Launer. Although, you can find bags similar to it. The brand sells many bags in classic, elegant styles. Many of them similar to the Hermès Kelly and Bolide as well as other original silhouettes. They also usually cost around $2,000 which is more affordable than many other luxury brands given the demand and popularity of the bags.
It seems this is the first time Queen Elizabeth II has attended a fashion show. That’s not something she’d usually do. Kate Middleton did, however, attend a London Fashion Week reception at the Buckingham Palace on Monday. So, maybe the Queen or Middleton will attend more shows or Fashion Week events next season.
As for if the Queen will attend more fashion shows, we’ll just have to wait and see.
