LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton has announced that it will launch a multi-brand e-commerce site in June.
According to an article on Reuters, LVMH has announced that it will launch a multi-brand e-commerce site in June. The site will be part of Le Bon Marché, a French department store acquired by LVMH in 1984.
The website is called 24Sevres.com, named after the address of the French luxury department store. The luxury e-commerce site will ship to over 75 companies and will offer fashion, cosmetics, and luggage items from more than 150 luxury brands. The website will also offer mostly womenswear and 68 brands will offer exclusive products for the launch, according to an article on Bloomberg.
LVMH had been reported to be launching a new e-commerce site in March. It was said the company would launch the website in May and would offer all of its 70 brands on the site. It was also said that the website may offer products from brands not owned by LVMH. The company will, however, only offer products from 20 of its brands including Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Fendi.
Other brands to be offered on the website include Prada, Gucci, Valentino, and more.
Chief Digital Officer Ian Rogers released a statement saying, “the idea is to be attractive with unique products, not necessarily have a huge offering.” He continued to say that the website will give shoppers “very Parisian choices” with exclusive products.
As I said before, the launch of an e-commerce site would make sales at the company increase. That is, if the website has an e-commerce exclusive on brands that retailers like Barneys New York and Net-A-Porter don’t have. Net-A-Porter currently does not carry Dior, Céline, or Louis Vuitton. The new site would work well for customers wanting to shop for those brands on one site.
Also, this would be the first time brand new Louis Vuitton can be purchased online from another website besides the brand’s own website. You can get used Louis Vuitton products from other websites but if you want it new you have to buy it from Louisvuitton.com or in stores.
All of LVMH’s brands have their own e-commerce site or sell through retailers like Net-A-Porter. Céline, however, just barely joined Instagram in March and announced plans to launch an e-commerce site this year.
Rogers says the new website will compliment the products offered on the websites of brands owned by LVMH.
It is currently not known when in June the new e-commerce site will launch.
