Kim Jones May Be Going to Versace

Versace is said to be in talks to hire Louis Vuitton Men’s creative director Kim Jones as the new creative director of the brand just a couple of weeks after rumors of Virgil Abloh’s hiring.

According to an article on WWD, Versace is said to be in talks to hire Louis Vuitton Men’s creative director Kim Jones as the new creative director of the brand. This comes just a couple of weeks after rumors began circulating that Virgil Abloh would hired.

WWD released a statement saying, “no contract has been signed and the likelihood of a deal could not immediately be learned. It is understood that the biggest barrier is a contractual one: Last year, the Englishman renewed his employment agreement at Vuitton, which he joined in 2011.”

Earlier this year, Riccardo Tisci was rumored to be in talks with the brand after he resigned as creative ditrector of Givenchy, however, a spokesperson said the brand had no plans to hire anyone and does not comment on rumors. Also, Tisci has a non-compete agreement with Givenchy so he wouldn’t be able to work with another brand for a while anyway.

A couple of weeks ago, rumors began circulating that Virgil Abloh would go to the brand. Abloh was said to be in the process of “signing a deal” to be the brand’s new creative director. The brand, however, said he would not.

Jones previously worked at Dunhill, Hugo Boss, Alexander McQueen, Topman, Mulberry, and more. He also collaborated with Nike and did Louis Vuitton x Supreme, one of the biggest luxury and affordable brand collaborations, which also made sales and profit sales increase at Louis Vuitton.

Versace declined to comment.
