Dior has announced that Kim Jones is the new creative director of menswear, replacing Kris Van Assche who has been with the brand for 11 years.
According to an article on Fashionista, Dior has announced that Kim Jones is the new creative director of menswear. Jones replaces Kris Van Assche who has been with the brand for about 11 years. This comes just a couple of months after Jones resigned as the creative director of menswear at Louis Vuitton earlier this year in January.
Van Assche released a statement saying, “I am leaving this beautiful House to pursue new challenges. I wish to thank Bernard Arnault for the trust he placed in me, Sidney Toledano and Serge Brunschwig for their warm welcome at Dior and their continuous support during all those years of collaboration.”
Jones’ hiring is the brand’s first big hiring since Pietro Beccari became Chairman and CEO of Christians Dior Couture after having resigned a surprise CEO of Fendi in February.
Beccari released a statement saying,
“I am delighted to welcome Kim Jones at Dior Homme. He will benefit from the support of the teams and from the ‘savoir-faire’ of the Ateliers to create an elegant men’s wardrobe, both classic and anchored in contemporary culture. I am confident that he will continue to further develop Dior Homme on a global scale.”
Jones’ first collection for the brand will be shown at Paris Men’s Fashion Week later this year in June.
Van Assche’s plans have not yet been announced.
As for what Jones’ first collection for the brand will look like, we’ll just have to wait and see.
