Happy New Year! Okay, so it’s not New Years yet but tomorrow is New Year’s Eve and my husband won’t be working which means I won’t be posting for the rest of the week. What I will be doing, though, is celebrating. I already know what I’ll be wearing and I hope that you’ve already picked out what to wear too but if not, there’s always a default style that you can go to; the sparkly dress.
New Years is the only time, other than your birthday, when you can and should wear a sparkly or glittery dress. Sure you can wear any other kind of dress like a nice, classic black or red dress but you should take this opportunity to wear that loud dress.
Not to mention, a sparkly dress also works for all kinds of events. You can wear a sparkly dress at a formal party or at a casual party on New Years. It works either way. It doesn’t matter what color it is, you can wear it. Just make sure it’s below the knees or you’ll look tacky.
Also, if you’re going to wear a sparkly dress, make sure that you only bring a small evening bag. It may match but to avoid tackiness, I’d recommend something very minimalistic. There’s no need to have a flashy bag when your dress is already flashy. What you can, and probably should, do is have a nice pair of matching shoes.
Your shoes can be sparkly just like your dress or they can just match in color. Again, your dress is already flashy so I’d recommend just having your shoes match in color but it will look good either way. What you don’t want to do is wear a sparkly dress and then put on some black Louboutins unless you’re wearing a black sparkly dress, which would actually look quite nice at a formal party.
Speaking of Louboutins, if you’re not going to wear a sparkly dress you should wear some nice shoes or a nice handbag. If you’re dress is formal or minimalistic, you can wear that crocodile Hermès Birkin or that Louis Vuitton Alma in monogram canvas.
So, what do you think? Is New Years the only time you should wear a sparkly dress or should people wear them any time they want? Let me know in the comments below. Also, don’t forget to subscribe to get new posts sent directly to your inbox and follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat.
