I Saw Counterfeit Handbags in Los Angeles

Last month, my husband and I were at Santee Alley in Los Angeles. While shopping, a couple of people were announcing they had Louis Vuitton, Hermès, and Chanel bags. I knew they were counterfeit but I asked to see them anyway. These handbags, however, weren’t even good counterfeits.

Last month, my husband and I took a weekend vacation to Long Beach, CA. While we were there, we decided to visit Santee Alley in Los Angeles. Having heard so much about it, we went to see why everyone always talked about it. This was just before we went to Beverly Hills and saw that bad quality coin purse at Versace.

While we were at Santee Alley we were just browsing. The alley wasn’t much of what people said it was. Everyone always said you could get good deals on good stuff. The alley, however, pretty much just had nothing but cheap stuff. Cheap clothes, shoes, makeup, and accessories.

There were also people standing in the alley, announcing that they had Louis Vuitton, Hermès, and Chanel bags. As I said, I knew the handbags they’d be selling were counterfeits but I asked to see them anyway. A woman and her friend took my husband and I to her car where she had parked and opened her trunk. There was pretty much just a bunch of plastic bags full of  handbags and accessories. She took the bags out explaining what brands she had and what products.

Then she showed us a Louis Vuitton wallet in Damien Ebene. She said the wallet was $75 and explained that it cost that much because it was a better quality material than the another one she had for $35. She gave me the wallet and it felt hard. It wasn’t the same as the soft canvas you’d get at a Louis Vuitton store. That wasn’t much of a surprise, though.

I also saw a couple of Chanel bags and they didn’t even look good. There are some counterfeit bags online that at least look like authentic handbags but these didn’t. They weren’t even good counterfeits.

After showing me the bags, I said “thanks” and that I wasn’t interested in buying them. Then we walked away and went back to the alley. There were still a couple of other people announcing that they had bags.

Counterfeit handbags are selling not only online but in alleys like this in New York and other cities. I just wonder why these bags sell as much as they do if the quality isn’t that good. I know they’re cheap, but you could get something much better for the same price online. You could get a better bag from a contemporary or affordable brand or buy a vintage bag or accessory.

Regardless, these handbags bags didn’t look good. They’re cheap but the quality isn’t that good and you can get a much better bag online for the same price.

So, what do you think? Should you just buy a better handbag online? Let me know in the comments below. Also, don’t forget to subscribe to get new posts sent directly to your inbox and follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat.
