Hermès Spring/Summer 2016

Paris Fashion Week has come to a close and it was amazing. I loved the digital theme of Louis Vuitton and the Airport set up from Chanel. I could do a review of each of those shows but I figured I’d just do a review of my favorite brand of Paris Fashion Week. That brand, unsurprisingly, is Hermès.

I love outfits that do what they do well. Outfits that don’t need to do many things to get the point across. That doesn’t mean an outfit shouldn’t have accessories or many pieces to put it together, it just means that not all the pieces of the outfit should be loud. The majority of them should be neutral colored and fit well to create a look that you’d have to really look at to figure out. Now, that is a beautiful outfit.

That is my aesthetic, though, and yours could be different but that’s okay. Loudly colored outfits are beautiful too, especially in the summer. Take color blocking for example. Outfits that color block can look amazing.

Regardless, Hermès has done a great job at keeping things simple and classy. After all, Hermès is often considered the height of luxury these days, so it’s no surprise that they’d be able to pull that off like in the photo below.

This outfit is as simple as it gets, but it’s still quite beautiful because of the form of the outfit. They way that the shirt is slim around her waist and flares out at the bottom is a great example of that. I also love the way those formal pants are used casually. This outfit is good for the professional situations, but it would look better on a day out shopping. Just switch that giant bracelet out for a cute, slim gold one then throw on a watch and we’re in business.

These next dresses fit that description as well.

These would be great or a nice day out during the summer. Again with that giant bracelet, switch that out for a slim gold one. I also see the black dress benefiting from a necklace instead of a watch.

The dress pictured below could be used for a day out but it seems more useful for lounging around in style.

This dress seems like something you’d wear around your house if you had some guests over for lunch and didn’t want to get too dressed up but didn’t want to be in your pajamas.

Speaking of pajamas, take a look at this outfit.

This is spa wear. Seriously this is something you wear after you’ve taken a shower, freshened up and sat down on the couch to relax at the end of the day. Also, look at those sneakers. Perfect for relaxing after a long day in heels.

Lastly, this outfit is on the casually formal side like the first outfit, but leans more towards formal.

I like this look because it’s formal until you get to the shoes. It looks like she was called into the office but had other things to do that day so she didn’t change her shoes.

The Hermès Spring/Summer 2016 collection was great this season and it will be even better when people are actually wearing it. Hermès pulled off that simple classy looks amazingly but there is one thing I didn’t like.

Hermès did not take the opportunity to show of the Apple Watch Hermès. Not one of the models was wearing it and it would have been an amazing moment for Apple to have its watch cemented in the fashion industry like that. It already has Hermès behind it as a fashion accessory and it would have helped people see it as a substantial force in fashion if Hermès showcased its work in the area. It seems like NO ONE but me sees the potential for this device to be a beautiful, hot commodity of style.
