BCBG is the Latest Brand to File for Bankruptcy

BCBG Max Azria filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy on Wednesday. The company is the latest to do so as customers are shopping more online than in stores. The company listed its assets from $100 million to $500 million and its liabilities from $500 million to $1 billion. The company has reportedly informed mall owners of its plans to close most of its 200 U.S. stores. The company will also be closing stores in Canada in addition to the 120 stores it said it would close in January.

Meryl Streep accuses Karl Lagerfeld of spoiling her Oscars

Meryl Streep was all over fashion news when she responded to Karl Lagerfeld after he called her “cheap” after she ordered a couture dress from Chanel to wear at the Oscars on Sunday, February 26th only to cancel the order Streep reportedly canceled the order. because another’s brand offers to pay her to wear their dress. With Chanel’s atelier having started working on the dress, the team was told by Streep’s employees not to make it. Lagerfeld said he was very disappointed and further said, “a genius actress, but cheapness also, no?” Streep responded to Lagerfeld saying that a different brand did not offer to pay her to wear their dress. She continued to say “Mr. Lagerfeld’s generic ‘statement’ of regret for this ‘controversy’ was not an apology. He lied, they printed the lie, and I am still waiting.” The statement Streep is referring to is a statement sent by Lagerfeld to representatives of Streep in which he apologizes for having misunderstood why Streep chose to wear another dress.

Céline Has Finally Joined Instagram

Céline was all over fashion news when it announced the Séverine Merle will be the brand’s new CEO. The brand also announced plans to launch e-commerce and has joined Instagram. Despite being one of the most in demand and copied brand in the luxury market, Céline doesn’t distribute too many products. The brand also isn’t available in too many stores either. What’s more, the brand has not been active online making it one of the newer brands not on social media and lacking e-commerce on its website. That is, until the brand launched a new Instagram account this week. So far, the only photos the brand has posted are photos of shoes. Regardless, the brand is on social media and will start selling its products online, which is what it should be doing.
