Kate Spade has announced that Deborah Lloyd will resign as creative director of the brand and will be replaced by Nicola Glass.
According to an article on Fashionista, Kate Spade has announced that Deborah Lloyd will resign as creative director of the brand. The brand also announced that she will be replaced by Michael Kors Senior Vice President of Accessories Design Nicola Glass.
Just a few months after Tapestry Inc. acquired the brand, Lloyd is resigning. She has been with the brand for about 10 years or so and will resign at the end of this year.
This comes just a week after Tapestry Inc. released its earning for the first fiscal quarter 2018 in which Luis talked about some of the company’s plans for Kate Spade including closing Jack Spade, lowering wholesaling and sales, and changing the brand’s supply chain.
Luis released a statement saying,
“there are very few creative executives like her, who have both the talent to lead creative teams and the appreciation and understanding of how to scale a growing handbag and accessories-driven business. We are extremely pleased that she will be leading the strong creative team already in place, while bringing her unique aesthetic and personal style to Kate Spade. Nicola fully understands the feminine, fun and fashionable style of and is excited to bring its distinctive style to global audiences.”
He continued to say, “we have great admiration for Deborah’s accomplishments and her vision and creative leadership have been instrumental to the growth of Kate Spade.”
Glass, who’s been working at Michael Kors for 13 years, will start at the beginning of next year and report to Tapestry Inc. CEO and Kate Spade Interim President and CEO Victor Luis.
