Burberry has shown Riccardo Tisci’s first collection for the brand at London Fashion Week and the new bags include a couple that look a lot like the Hermès Birkin.
Earlier this year in March, Burberry announced that Tisci is the new creative director of the brand. Then, last month, Tisci released a new logo and monogram for the brand. Since then, people have been waiting to see what the clothing and accessories would look like in his first collection for the brand.
The brand showed its Spring/Summer 2019 collection at London Fashion Week last week. The brand, of course, posted photos of the collection on social media as well as fashion news publications. PurseBlog published an article with photos of the bags from the collection. There are quite a few new designs including top handle bags, crossbody bags, shoulder bags, and clutches. There are a couple of bags, however, that look quite a bit like the Hermès Birkin.
There is a top handle bag that has a flap like the Birkin but has a push button closure instead of a turn-lock and straps. It also has one handle instead of two and a shoulder strap, which the Hermès Birkin doesn’t have. The gussets are also made differently where most bags that look like a Birkin has gussets similar to the Birkin.
There is another top handle bag that has a flap like the Birkin but has a push button closure instead of a turn-lock and straps. This bags, however, has more hardware. It also has one handle and a shoulder strap. The gussets are also made differently and have less stitching than the other bag.
The bags come in different colors, leathers, and fabrics. Although, the second bag seems to only come in one color.
The bags don’t seem to be available for purchase and the brand hasn’t announced when they will be or how much they cost.
There are also a couple of bags with the new monogram and some bags with new logo hardware. The first bag also comes with studs on it that look similar to Coach bags, which Hermés did for its Fall/Winter 18/19 collection.
As for if these bags will be popular, we’ll just have to wait and see.
