Following Layoffs, Condé Nast is Going on a Hiring Spree

Condé Nast, parent company Vogue, Glamour, GQ, and more, announced that they    would be posting job openings every hour. This just after they stopped publishing their magazine “Details” and closed and turned it into Vogue Runway. All of that, of course, was accompanied by many layoffs with the layoff of former Teen Vogue Editor in Cheif Jason Wagenheim being the most notable.

Karl Lagerfeld in £15m Tax Probe

Karl Lagerfeld, Creative Director of Chanel, Fendi, and his own Brand, is being investigated by French tax authorities for allegedly hiding £15 million, about $21.7 million, through his bookstore 7L. The bookstore gets all the revenue from Lagerfeld’s photography but hasn’t paid its taxes because it is apparently losing money.

This is the video I was talking about in the article “Are Luxury Handbags Worth The Money?” Charles Gross makes a great argument for the justification of the expensive price tags on luxury handbags. You pay for the name, which usually has history, you pay for the time it takes to pick the best leather, and you pay for skills of the brands atelier. I’m sure there are more things that go into the price of a handbag but this are the most important.

Vogue is continuing the trend where it says that baring your skin during winter is in. It’s not. It’s too cold for that, regardless of how good you look. Not to mention, vogue recently posted on its Instagram that they found a bunch of boots for under $250 which aren’t very skin baring things. Boots usually cover up your calves.

There’s A Lot Happening in Lanvin’s First Collection Without Alber Elbaz

In November, Alber Elbaz was fired from Lanvin and now Womenswear designer Chemena Kamali and accessories designer Lucio Finale are taking Alber Elbaz’s place until Lanvin finds a new Creative Director. As such, the Lanvin Pre-Fall 2016 collection has been designed by those two.
